If you’re looking for a job, new relationship, or just to improve your self-esteem, slipping into a designer outfit may seem like a good strategy, but you’re better off investing that money in your smile.

We all know that a smile can greatly affect our self-esteem and the way in which we interact with others, but now there’s some science behind it.

A study conducted by Kelton Research for Align Technology, the makers of Invisalign found that people with straight teeth are perceived as successful, smarter and having more dates. About 1500 American were shown images of men and women with crooked and straight teeth.

The results showed that Americans perceived people with straight teeth, probably those who have undergone orthodontic treatment, to have more desirable qualities than those with crooked teeth.

The people with straight teeth were said to be “happy”, “surrounded by loved ones” and “professionally successful”.
